Unable to delete mistakes

The vast majority of people in my tree can't be deleted, as the button is missing? Was there before, has gone since.

The [Change or delete] button is on the left side panel (bottom of the stack).  Note you can only delete family members that are on the end of a branch or root (one that has no child or parent) as this would split the tree (not allowed).

The button to delete is there and active but nothing happens when I click it.
