can i actually print a family tree for free? 3rd try and when I get to the final part, they want a suscription.

There are no subscriptions sold on Family Echo. To print your family tree, please use the 'Print' link underneath the family tree on the left. You can then print directly or download to a PDF file to print from your computer.
