I saved a tree in FamilScripts but when I recalled it to name it for another user it had dropped the pictures.

Exporting tree in family script format is always without pictures. You can export only as HTML (for viewing prupose) with pictures.

You backup the pictures by exporting an HTML copy of the tree.  You will have to manually copy and upload each picture from the displayed HTML copy to the new tree.
