Is it possible to restrict sensitive information outside of 2-3 degrees of separation?

Hello,

As the trees get larger and spead to more branches of the family, and spouses start adding their trees, we've had some security concerns about sensitive information. Is it possible to restrict information (e.g., anything other than Name and Photo) from being viewed by anyone outside of a 2 degree of relationship (or so)?

We would love to be able to let this thing go viral through our connections, but are loathe to put in birthdates or phone numbers if it exposes all this to the 3rd cousin twice removed's husband's 2nd cousin thrice removed.

This is such an excellent resource. We'd love to be able to make full use of it.
