How do I stop my family tree from splitting up and hiding other people?

That is because the people can not all fit on at once. When you click on someone, you will be able to see at least all of the close family members. If you click on another person, you will be able to see different people based on their close relatives. It is impossible for all of them to be shown at the same time unless you have a very sparse tree.
