How do I attach a whole story about a family member and link it to that family member on the Tree

I am trying to build up a history of the family based on the Family Echo tree

You can use a website hosting service like Godaddy or Wix etc. and create a page for each family member.  You can then link to those pages using the website field on the Contact tab of left hand panel of the tree.
