How to change a partnership to 'ex' without a marriage

My grandparents were never married just dated and had my mom. I cant change the partnership to 'ex-partner' only ex wife. HELP I need this to be an accurate representation.

Select the person you want to change then go to the fourth box change or delete. Then select change partner and after that click on set no current partner.
