On an existing Tree, how do I convert a single father with descendents to a couple?

When  my great great grandfather became the starting point of a tree, the name of his  spouse was unkown, thus  his descendents flowed from one person. When I found his spouse later, the program would not allow me to convert the tree to a couple with descendents? Help?

Hi John,

You can set the Mother by clicking on the child and selecting the option "Add mother" in the buttons on the left panel. One of the option should be to select the added spouse as the mother.
