Copy portion of family tree into another separate family tree?

I'd like to create separate family trees for my mother's and father's sides of the family. Is it possible to copy a portion of the family tree into a new separate family tree? Or do I have to start from the beginning?

I think you might have to start from the beginning. If I could do that I'd have done that by now. My life would be WAY easier.

I'm afraid it's not possible. You can export and import the entire tree to create a copy, but then you'd have to delete everyone who was not relevant.
