Unable to connect Christian IX of Denmark as father of Frederick VIII in my family tree

Hello,

I am building a large family tree of European royal families and I encountered a problem that I cannot resolve.

I already have both of the following people in my tree:

  • Christian IX of Denmark

  • Frederick VIII of Denmark

I am trying to connect them as father and son, because Christian IX is the father of Frederick VIII. However, when I attempt to set Christian IX as the father of Frederick VIII, the system shows the message:

"This choice of parents is not allowed because it would split the tree."

Because of this, I am unable to connect these two people even though the relationship is historically correct.

Could you please explain:

  1. Why this error occurs in this situation?

  2. How I can correctly connect Christian IX as the father of Frederick VIII without breaking the tree?

  3. If necessary, could you help fix this connection on your side?

This part of the tree is important because it connects the Danish royal line with the Norwegian and British royal families already present in my tree.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

The problem may be that Frederick VIII already has a father, and this father–son relationship is keeping the tree connected together. So you need to find some other way to keep the tree connected before changing the father.

If this does not explain the problem, please send a message through the feedback form, with a read-only link to view your tree, and I'll take a look. The site is in constant development so it's certainly possible a bug has crept in.
