Integrating Family Echo into another website (live, dynamic, editable)

Hi!

I would like to integrate Family Echo into my website and maitain its functionality in terms of adding new family members and editing profiles. My main goal is to share my website with my extended family all over the world for them to add their information and maybe even photos. A link that allows anyone to edit the tree would also work I just can't find a way to share the tree without limiting edit access. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Doing what you want to do is going to be a little work. You can embed the Family Echo website in your website with an iframe. But there's really no substitute for sending people individual links so that they can either (a) edit their own details of (b) create an account and edit the whole tree.

If I was going to do this, I think I would use the tree itself as an incentive. Something like, "I'll send you an email with a link, so that you can see the tree and edit the information". That way you don't have to send out a whole bunch of individualized links to people who might have no interest in a family tree.

As always, if you share editing access to your tree, be sure to make backups of your GEDCOM file on a regular basis (and check the tree history).

Many platforms offer APIs that allow developers to integrate their services into external websites. Alternatively, embedding options might provide a way to showcase your Family Echo tree on your website while maintaining some level of interactivity. You can check this: https://familyecho.com/?page=api

I recommend checking Family Echo's official documentation or reaching out to their support team for the most accurate and up-to-date information on integration possibilities. They should be able to guide you on how to achieve your goal of sharing and editing the family tree on your website.
