Could you describe what exactly doesn't work with the photo upload? From the back of my head, I can imagine two possible scenarios:
1) The photos are uploaded correctly but don't show up on the tree. To check this, click on "Options" on the menu of the bottom of your screen. There you can manage display options (i. e. whether surname at birth or current surname should be displayed, whether life and death dates should be shown and in which format), including photos. The box "Photos" has to be checked, otherwise uploaded pictures won't be displayed on the tree.
2) You accidentally cancel photo upload. This has happened to me when I began uploading photos for a tree - I chose "Add photo", selected a file from my computer, hit the "Upload" button and then switched to the next person to upload their photo. However, the first picture never got uploaded, because by doing this, I cancelled the upload action - for the photo to load correctly, you'll need to wait a few seconds until the photo is displayed on the sidebar.
If none of these is the problem, maybe check if the picture's format is supported by FamilyEcho, or try uploading in a different browser.
