Yes

Go to the family member on the tree and there should be a "invite [name] to share family" option

Find the person on the tree, select Invite [name] to share family, set the permsions then either select Send Email or Create Link.

is it the same if i just sent my username and password to all family members so they can log in and edit...what is the pros and cons of that

I wouldn't call sharing an account the same as sending them an invite link.
The invite link ensures they only have access to the trees that you allow, where's sharing an account you're giving the person access to everything on your account.

Is there a reason one of your people can or won't make an account of their own?
